Our Role as Teachers, Not Advisors

Everyone with any problem within the vast scope of estate planning in its broadest sense has need for help. That help may be in the form of information, or it may be advice. The two are vastly different.

Please remember that we are here to give you information, and to help you find a lot more good information. We are not able and will not give you advice. You must seek that from one who is skilled in the involved area.

We heartily agree with Lincoln's statement that "The man who represents himself has a fool for a client." There is no substitute for sound advice from a wise lawyer. And that's equally true whether your problem involves the commission of a crime, or something as unglamorous as a dispute with the landlord. But the fact is that many people find themselves grasping unaided for answers to many of their legal questions.

In the case of medicine, law, dentistry, etc., such advice must come from a licensed professional, who has been trained and is experienced in the problems involved. No one who is not licensed in that specialty can legally give that kind of advice.
Think of us more as a school teacher, who helps you to learn the essential principles included in a course, but does not pretend to be an advisor who solves peoples' specific problems.

Like the law school professor, we are only helping you to learn and understand some of the basic principles. There is no way we advise you on your problems. To give sound legal advice, a lawyer has to know all the surrounding facts, all about the client and those involved in the situation, and whether or not there are some undisclosed facts that would change the advice that should be given.

The solution to every problem, particularly if it concerns medicine or law, depends on countless factors such as your age, health, religion, special training and aptitudes, education, likes and dislikes, experience, personality, mental health, etc. They are all different for every human being.

Disclaimer
In this litigious age, some people want to sue every time they see a potential target. Too often, they feel that they can find a lawyer who will handle their claim on a contingent fee basis, hoping for a quick settlement.

In fact, we lack an essential ingredient to be the target of this type of litigation. We don't have "deep pockets," and there isn't a "fat cat" among us. We check out the information we include, but can't vouch for its accuracy. No one can be sure that anything seen on the web is absolutely accurate.

As we have pointed out, we are not giving advice of any kind. We are only giving information and the means, through the Internet, to get a lot more.

We can't and won't be liable for any loss that anyone who alleges that he or she has suffered any real or imagined loss as a result of anything in them.
